Quick Weighting Guide
How much weight do you need, really? The short answer is it depends- on your body composition, wetsuit thickness, water salinity, your weight, and your equipment. Play with the sliders below to get an idea of how these things affect your weighting.
Proper weighting is one of the most important foundations of good diving because it directly affects your control, comfort, and safety in the water. When you’re weighted correctly, you can maintain neutral buoyancy without constant effort, which allows you to move smoothly, stay horizontal, and conserve energy.
Too much weight forces you to overinflate your BCD and fight your position; too little makes it difficult to stay down and maintain stability. Getting it right means everything else, like breathing, trim, and movement, becomes easier and more controlled, turning diving from something you manage into something that feels natural.
